Adastral - Frequently Asked Questions

By: The Director-General

Adastral's in its infancy still, so quite a few people may not fully understand what Adastral is/will be. So here's a handy FAQ. How convenient!

Q: What is Adastral?

A: Put simply, Adastral is a single place to download and manage sourcemods. Put slightly less simply, Adastral's the first solution to encompass all the popular multiplayer sourcemods that can't get on Steam.

Q: Why should I (a player) use Adastral?

A: Besides the support of a plethora of games, we've got an easy-to-use interface and very efficient updating. Support will be handled by us instead of respective dev teams, which means that those dev teams can focus on actually making the game.

Q: When's Adastral releasing?

A: We're releasing early alphas currently, a full release version won't be ready for a bit but we're aiming mid-late summer 2024.

Q: Who's The Adastral Group?

A: Quite literally, just the people who make Adastral. An about page with credits and the such is in the works!

Q: Are you making money off of this?

A: No! Adastral is a fiercely libre solution - All the software and protocols are fully GPL-3.0.
If donations are ever opened, 100% will go into server maintenance.

Q: We want our game to be on Adastral - how do we get on?

A: Drop us a message on Twitter (other forms of communications are pending) and we'll take a look!

Q: Can I apply to work on Adastral?

A: Since it's open source there's nothing stopping you from making a PR, however we do have an internal team. We're looking for C++ programmers with some experience. If you think you fit the bill, DM us on twitter, or DM any of the devs on Discord. Proper application form pending.
